Landscaping Spring Cleanup

With spring right around the corner, it’s time for some spring cleaning! Spring cleaning doesn’t only apply to inside your home but also to your outdoor living area! Your shrubs, yard, and mulch beds need year-round care to achieve their highest quality through the summer months. Pruning, mulching, and mulch bed care are some components that help with the health and growth of your shrubs and trees.

Let’s start with pruning. Spring pruning takes away the old, dead, areas of your trees or shrubs and allows new growth in the spring and summer months. It’s best to prune your plants during spring so that they can recover during their peak growing season. Spring pruning also prevents diseases and pests from entering your outdoor living area. Perfect clean, healthy, plants for a perfect clean living space!

Pruning is not the only element to increasing the health of your plants. Weed pulling around your shrubs and flowers allows them to soak up more nutrients and grow larger. In addition, cleaning out your mulch beds from leaves, sticks, and other debris can also promote plant growth. Cleaning weeds and debris not only helps your shrubs and trees within them, but also your home and outdoor living areas. Overgrown plants and weeds could destroy the siding of your home or create an unlivable outdoor living space. By keeping your plants and weeds under control, your outdoor space can thrive.

Now after cleaning your yard and mulch beds, they’re in need of pick-me-up! Freshening up your mulch beds can create a cleaner appearance all year round. In addition, as your old mulch decomposes and loses its color over time, it will enrich the soil with essential nutrients. So, adding new mulch yearly will improve the overall view of your home while also adding nutrients to your soil to improve plant growth. By mulching every year, it will also help suppress weeds and retain moisture for your growing plants.

The tasks of pruning, mulching, and caring for your mulch beds may be tedious, but they will create a fresh environment to brighten your outdoor living space through the spring and summer seasons. Taking time to care for your landscaping will ensure a season full of lush greenery, colorful blooms, and an enjoyable outdoor living space. Remember spring cleaning is not only for inside your house, but outside as well!
